You asked for some « homework » during the break.  Here’s a TED talk to watch.  What I’ve learned from my Autistic Brothers is by Faith Jegede Cole.

If you’re not familiar with TED talks, they are lectures on various topics by innovative speakers.

I love them!

Yes TED talks are usually interesting.  But, what I really love about TED talks is that they have really good subtitles.  You can watch the talk with French subtitles, then with English subtitles and finally with no subtitles (wow!).

Click on « 38 subtitle languages » to choose your subtitles.  Click on « view interactive transcript » to read the full text.

Before watching the talk think about any children or adults that you know with autism.

As you watch the talk think about:

  1. What makes Faith’s brothers extraordinary.
  2. What Faith has learned from them.
